Ganondagan Lecture Series: "Land & Identity: Seneca and Quaker Perspectives on Two Controversial Treaties"

Different historical “threads” will be presented in events surrounding the 1842 Treaty, a compromise and modification of the 1838 Buffalo Creek Treaty involving sale of tribal land and moving Eastern tribes to the west. Speakers representing viewpoints from the Haudenosaunee and the Quakers will make for a provocative evening defining “truth” and its many facets.  With Ganondagan Site Manager G. Peter Jemison and Colgate University Professor Judith Wellman discussing the historic Quaker-Seneca alliance and the current importance of the Treaty.
