The opportunity to engage in an internship allows students to take the skills and knowledge they have learned in the classroom and apply them within a professional environment. Students gain valuable hands-on work in their fields, establish important professional connections, and earn three credits toward graduation. Nazareth Communication and Rhetoric students have interned with companies as diverse as the American Red Cross, Conde Nast New York City, Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, National Public Radio, Rochester City Ballet, Rochester Knighthawks, Seneca Park Zoo, and Toshiba Business Solutions (just to name a few).
Internships are usually carried out junior year, after students have completed their praxis strand. Students perform 120 hours in the position and participate in the internship seminar. Internship opportunities are also available during the summer. Students are not limited in the number of internships they complete (schedule permitting), and there are also non-credit bearing opportunities available.
