Here are some of the most common career pathways our students take, along with suggestions for making the most of a Nazareth education in pursuit of those careers.
According to the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, job growth will be strong for all of these fields (with the exception of journalism). Advertising, Graphic Design, Law, and Technical Writing jobs are expected to grow between 10-17% by 2020, keeping pace with national job growth trends. Event Planning and Public Relations are expected to grow 44% and 21%, respectively, exceeding national job growth trends.
Editing, Writing, and Publishing: Seek employment at the College Writing Center; Work on Nazareth's student paper The Gleaner; Submit essays to conferences; Complement a Communication and Rhetoric major with an English Literature minor
Event Planning: Take a leadership role in a campus organization; Complete an internship in event planning
Graphic Design or Visual Communication Design: Select the major's graphic design praxis strand; Complement the major with a Digital Marketing and Design minor
Journalism: Select the major's journalism praxis strand; Work on Nazareth's student paper The Gleaner
Law: Consider taking the Speechmaking and Society major elective; Complement the major with a Legal Studies minor
Marketing: Select the major's marketing praxis strand; Complement the major with a marketing minor
