Spark inspiration in the next generation.

  • To effectively teach early childhood and elementary children: Gain the rare benefit of teacher certifications in four different areas of general and special education, all within four years:
    • early childhood education (birth–grade 2)
    • teaching students with disabilities at the early childhood level (birth–grade 2)
    • childhood education (grades 1–6)
    • teaching students with disabilities at the childhood level (grades 1–6)
  • To successfully teach at the junior or senior high level: Graduate with your content major and certifications in teaching grades 7-12, both in your content area and in special education (teaching students with disabilities). And you'll be prepared to complete a master's in one year, choosing from a dozen paths.

SPARK funds enabled an internship for Stefanie Bunnell '20 educating people about injured birds of prey — which solidified her plans to become a teacher and opened her eyes to opportunities to incorporate conservation. "I know now that it is possible to merge education with environmental conservation in a career, which is great because I am an education and biology major."

Unique to Nazareth, our SPARK Grant provides $1,500 for you to pursue internships, research, and study abroad, plus up to $2,500 in a tuition scholarship for summer SPARK-eligible experiences that earn credit.
