Degree Earned:M.S. Inclusive Childhood Education
"At Nazareth I could get my initial certification and start teaching within a short period of time."
Rethink Career Options
“In the back of my mind, I always wanted to teach,” shares Leslie Haynes ’11. And so it is with many career changers. A former nonprofit professional, Haynes’ background is in urban planning, including educational programming and grant writing. Returning to school for her second master’s degree—this time in education—felt like the right choice, and Nazareth felt like the right place.
“Nazareth has the best reputation in the area for education, and I was looking for a program where I didn’t have to go back to undergraduate school. At Nazareth I could get my initial certification and start teaching within a short period of time.”
Haynes’ credits the program’s professors as well as the site-based practicum for her skill set. “I can compare and contrast teaching styles, and see what really works in the classroom. That provides me with new tools for my toolbox. I’m learning about classroom management and creative ways to reach students and help them learn.”
