Graduate Certification Programs
The Department of Inclusive Childhood Education offers graduate inclusive education certification at two age levels:
- Early Childhood (Birth to Grade 2)
- Childhood (Grades 1-6)
Depending on where you are in your studies, you may choose from the following programs:
The Initial Certification program is a 48 credit hour program designed for students who do not currently hold teacher certification. It leads to initial certification in two areas:
- Early Childhood or Childhood Education
- Teaching Students with Disabilities at the Early Childhood or Childhood Level
The Additional Certification, same developmental level, program is a 36 credit hour program designed for students who currently hold Early Childhood or Childhood Education certification and want to add Teaching Students with Disabilities certification. It leads to initial certification in:
- Teaching Students with Disabilities at the Early Childhood or Childhood Level
The Additional Certification, changing developmental levels, program is a 39 credit hour program designed for students who currently hold certification at another developmental level or in another area, and want to obtain Early Childhood or Childhood Education, and Teaching Students with Disabilities, certification. It leads to initial certification in two areas:
- Early Childhood or Childhood Education
- Teaching Students with Disabilities at the Early Childhood or Childhood Level
The Professional Certification program is a 36 credit hour program designed for students who currently hold certifications in Childhood Education and Teaching Students with Disabilities at the childhood level, and who wish to deepen their understandings of inclusive childhood education. It leads to professional certification in two areas:
- Childhood Education
- Teaching Students with Disabilities at the Childhood Level
