Welcome to the Department of Inclusive Childhood Education. As leaders in preparing inclusive early childhood and childhood educators, we work to empower our teacher candidates to construct and implement meaningful and research-based professional practices that transform them, their learners, their communities, and their profession.
We understand that inclusion is not just education for students with special needs; we define inclusive education as a multi-faceted process by which every student is nurtured in his/her growth toward the pursuit of a meaningful life. To meet this, we offer a variety of inclusive teacher education programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our programs prepare teachers for general education settings, inclusive education settings, and self-contained special education settings at the pre-school, elementary and middle school levels.
