  • Initial certification: 48 credit hours
  • Additional certification - changing developmental level: 39 credit hours
  • Additional certification - same developmental level: 36 credit hours
  • Professional certification: 36 credit hours

Admissions Requirements

In today’s competitive teaching environment, having inclusive dual certification in education can put you at a distinct advantage. Nazareth’s Inclusive Adolescent Education Masters Program gives you the skills and opportunities you need to stand out among your peers.

There are four Graduate Inclusive Adolescence Education programs:

  1. The Initial Certification program is a 48 credit hour program designed for students who do not currently hold teacher certification. It leads to initial certification in two areas.

    • Adolescence Education in Content Area 7-12 & Students with Disabilities, 7-12
      Biology French
      Chemistry German
      English Italian
      Mathematics
      Spanish
      Social Studies

  2. The Additional Certification, same developmental level, program is designed for students who currently hold Adolescence Education certification and want to add Teaching Students with Disabilities certification. It leads to initial certification in:
    • Teaching Students with Disabilities at the Adolescence Level in your content area(Grades 7-12)
  3. The Additional Certification, changing developmental levels, program is designed for students who currently hold certification at another level (e.g. Childhood) and who meet the content area prerequisites and want to obtain Adolescence Education certification in that area. It leads to initial certification in two areas:
    • Adolescence Education in Content Area 7-12 & Students with Disabilities, 7-12
      Biology French
      Chemistry German
      English Italian
      Mathematics
      Spanish
      Social Studies

  4. Professional Certification Program has been developed for students who currently hold initial certifications in both a content area (grades 7-12) and Teaching Students with Disabilities in your content area (grades 7-12). Contact Dr. Craig Hill for information.
