The Aphasia Clinic

The Aphasia Clinic at Nazareth College was established in 1992 by Dr. Shirley Szekeres in response to a community need for affordable long-term speech-language therapy services for individuals with chronic aphasia. The mission of the clinic is to develop students' clinical skills while delivering services to underserved adults in the Rochester Community.

Purposes of the Clinic:

  1. To provide speech-language-communication therapy to individuals with chronic aphasia who are no longer eligible for services under their health care coverage
  2. To provide a training ground to develop student competencies in treating individuals with aphasia
  3. To study the effectiveness of long term treatment of chronic aphasia
