Photo of Mrs. Bradley Mary C Bradley, M.A., CCC-SLP

Mrs. Bradley is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology and the Supervisor of Speech Clinic Services. She supervises undergraduate and graduate students in the Nazareth Speech and Hearing Clinic, and teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses. She joined the Nazareth College Speech-Language Pathology Department in Spring 1993 as an adjunct faculty member, and began supervising the Clinic in 1996. She holds a M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from Bowling Green State University, and a B.S. from SUNY Fredonia. Ms. Bradley has had nine years' experience working with individuals with special needs and has worked in a variety of settings. She has extensive experience in evaluation and selection of augmentative communication systems. She served as Supervisor of the Speech-Language Pathology Department at Mary Cariola Children's Center in Rochester prior to joining Nazareth full-time. Paula M. BrownPaula M. Brown, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Dr. Brown is Professor of Speech-Language Pathology. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester in Language and Cognition, a M.S. from the University of Rochester in Development and Learning, a M.A. from Kent State University in Speech Pathology, and a B.S. from the University of Missouri in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Dr. Brown became a full-time faculty member in August 2003. She was previously a faculty member and Chairperson of the Speech-Language Department at the National technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology, and adjunct faculty member of Nazareth College. Dr. Brown currently co-directs a personnel preparation grant from the Department of Education supporting a concentration in the provision of speech-language services to deaf and hard of hearing children. Her areas of interest are language and cognitive development of deaf children, conversational interaction, and spoken and written discourse processing. Lisa Durant-JonesLisa Durant-Jones, Ed.D, CCC-SLP

Dr. Durant-Jones is Graduate Program Director, Graduate Advisor, and an Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology. She received an Ed.D. from the University of Rochester's Warner School. She holds an M.S. in Speech Pathology from Columbia University and a B.S. in Communication Disorders from the College of St. Rose. Ms. Durant-Jones joined the Department as an adjunct faculty member in September 1995 and became a full-time faculty member in August 1996. She was previously a speech and language pathologist at Strong Memorial Hospital. Her areas of special interest include dysphasia, aphasia and traumatic brain injury; her recent publications are on topics in Dysphagia. James FeuersteinJames F. Feuerstein, Ph.D., CCC-A, FAAA

Dr. Feuerstein is Professor of Audiology. He joined the Nazareth staff in the fall of 1993. Dr. Feuerstein received a Ph.D. from SUNY Buffalo, a M.A. from SUNY Geneseo, and a B.S. from SUNY Geneseo. Dr. Feuerstein has been engaged in a number of projects with the Hearing and Speech Center of Rochester since 1977. Areas of special interest are auditory processing disorders, issues in industrial hearing conservation and environmental noise, and hearing aids. He has done research in the area of binaural hearing, telephone issues for people who are hard of hearing, user satisfaction with hearing aids, and a study of the effectiveness of a new style of personal hearing protection. Mrs. Irish is the Coordinator of CSD Operations, and is available weekdays in the Department Office (C-201) or her own office (Carroll 203). Mrs. Irish holds a B.A. in Secondary Education and Cultural Anthropology from Potsdam College and has extensive training and experience in the fields of special education regulations and developmental disabilities services in the community.

 

 

Photo of Mrs. Kwiatkowski Susan Kwiatkowski, M.S., CCC-SLP

Mrs. Kwiatkowski is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology and the department's Student Teaching Coordinator. Her M.S. is from Nazareth College and her B.S. in Communications is from Allegheny College. Mrs. Kwiatkowski has had a private practice serving preschoolers and school-aged children since 1989. She joined Nazareth as a part time field supervisor in 1990, and became a full time member of the department in 2004. Besides supervising all CSD student teachers in the field, Mrs. Kwiatkowski also teaches our "Organization & Administration of Speech-Language-Hearing Services in the Schools" course. Thomas MillerThomas Miller, Ph.D., J.D., CCC-SLP

Dr. Miller is a Professor of Speech-Language Pathology. He holds a Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a J.D. from SUNY Buffalo, a M.S.Ed. from State University College at Buffalo, and a B.A. from SUNY Buffalo. Dr. Miller has been at Nazareth College since 1976. His areas of professional interest include legal issues impacting the profession such as professional liability, informed consent, child advocacy and educational negligence. Catherine Sheridan QueninCatherine Sheridan Quenin, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Dr. Quenin is Department Chairperson and a Professor of Speech-Language Pathology. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication Disorders from Pennsylvania State University, a M.S.Ed. in Speech-Language Pathology from Nazareth College, and a B.A. in Political Science from Harding University. Dr. Quenin joined the Nazareth Speech Language Pathology Department in August 1995. She was previously a Visiting Assistant Professor at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. She has done research in the area of cued speech and assistive devices for deaf students. Dr. Quenin currently co-directs a personnel preparation grant from the United States Dept. of Education with Dr. Paula Brown, supporting a concentration in the provision of speech-language services to deaf and hard of hearing children. Her areas of specialty are cued speech and speech and language development in individuals who are deaf. Merideth Rao, M.S., CCC-SLP

Miss. Rao is a Clinical Assitant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology. She joined the department full time in 2007 after several years as an adjunct to the department. She is the Aphasia Clinic Manager and also provides instruction in the graduate program. Miss. Rao received her B.S. in Communication Disorders from Buffalo State College in 1985 and is a proud alumni of Nazareth College, where she received her M.S. Speech-Language Pathology . Miss. Rao has clinical experience working both in school settings and in the medical environment, including work with pediatric through adult populations. Her areas of interest include Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke Recovery, Motor Speech Disorders, Cranial Facial Disorders, and Feeding and Swallowing. Dr. Riddle is Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology. She holds a Ph.D. from Indiana University, an M.S. in Speech Pathology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and B.A. in Speech Pathology from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Riddle has taught at Indiana University, the University of Wisconsin, Ithaca College, and as an adjunct faculty member here at Nazareth College. Most recently she has worked at the Rochester Hearing and Speech Center where she was Director of Speech Operations. Her primary areas of interest are in the area of child language disorders. Mary SweeneyMary Sweeney, M.S., CCC-SLP

Ms. Sweeney is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology who joined the Department in 1997 as a Clinical Supervisor. She holds an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Purdue University and a B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Rochester. Ms. Sweeney supervises undergraduate and graduate students in the Nazareth College Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic as well as off-site as part of the Department's service learning programs. She also teaches an undergraduate course in clinical methods in speech-language therapy. Ms. Sweeney has over twenty years of experience in the field in a variety of settings, including special education programs, community based speech and hearing clinics, and preschool/daycare sites. Particular areas of clinical interest include early language disorders, fluency, and phonological disorders. Shirley F. SzekeresShirley F. Szekeres, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Dr. Szekeres is the Dean of the School of Health and Human Services and a Professor of the Speech-Language Pathology. She has been at Nazareth since 1991. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, a M.A. from SUNY Albany, and a B.A. from Ohio State University. Dr. Szekeres has over 20 years of clinical experience, and her areas of interest include aphasia and traumatic brain injury. She is also the founder of The Aphasia Clinic at Nazareth College, which has become the foundation for the on-campus Interdisciplinary Training Clinic that provides clinical experience for teams that include art therapy, music therapy, nursing, physical therapy, social work and speech-language pathology graduate students. Photo of Dr. Vogler EliasDawn Vogler Elias, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Dr. Vogler-Elias is a Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2009-2010 academic year. Dr. Vogler-Elias is also the Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Supervisor at the University of Rochester's Leadership in Neurodevelopment and Related Disabilities (LEND) program. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication Disorders and Sciences from the University at Buffalo, a M.S in Speech-Language Pathology from the University at Buffalo, and a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Syracuse University. Dr. Vogler-Elias' clinical interests include working with children, birth through adolescence, with developmental disabilities, language impairments, and social communication difficulties. Areas of research interest include peer-mediated and parent -implemented social communication interventions for children with autism spectrum disorders.
