Applying to the Initial Teacher Certification Program

Students interested in the optional NYS Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities initial certification program need to apply for the program as follows:

         1. a. Entering Freshman: Apply after the end of the second semester

             b. Entering Transfers: Apply after the end of the first semester

         2. The student brings a "Declaration or Change of

             Major/Minor/Specialization/Teacher Certification" form, which is available

             from the Registrar's office, to the Department Chairperson with the upper

             section completed

         3. The Chairperson completes Certification section

         4. The student turns the form in to the Registrar's office
