Economics
The economics major allows students to understand, evaluate and analyze the economic issues and challenges of everyday life, as well as the economic systems in which we live.
A perspective rooted in the liberal arts is used to examine the causes and patterns of societal change within the framework of economics. This approach helps students prepare for graduate study in economics, business, law and related disciplines, as well as professional careers in a variety of fields in the public and private sectors.
The goals of the program are accomplished through:
- Instructional staff devoted to teaching excellence and student development.
- Innovative, dynamic and relevant curricula.
- Development of critical thinking, qualitative and
quantitative analysis, communication and technology skills.
- Opportunities for interpersonal development through activities such as clubs and honor societies.
Students also have the option to use the economics major to achieve inclusive education certification for elementary education (grades one through nine) and as a generalist at the middle school level.
