
Business Education
The mission of the business education major is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to succeed as active and productive business teachers at the secondary and post-secondary levels.
The specific objectives of this major are to:
- Educate students in the profession of teaching in both traditional and inclusive classroom settings.
Foster commitment to a professional teaching career through intellectual, ethical and aesthetic values.
- Develop skills necessary for the pursuit of a meaningful vocation as a business teacher.
- Focus on the development of the total person: a competent, effective, intellectual, communicative and reflective individual.
- Inspire dedication to the idea of service to community.
The program is designed to integrate the best theory and practice and facilitate the transition from student to teacher. The future business and marketing education teacher learns the craft by observing, analyzing, teaching and interacting with other professionals.
Students who successfully complete this program will receive New York State Initial Teacher Certification in Business and Marketing Education (K - Grade 12).
Concentrations - All students are required to choose one of the three concentrations:
- Office Technology
- Accounting
- Marketing Education
