Facility/Residence Hall Security & Access
Most campus buildings and facilities are generally accessible to members of the campus community, guests, and visitors during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Certain facilities may also be open for designated hours on weekends.
Exterior doors on campus buildings are locked and secured each evening by Campus Safety personnel. Building directors or department heads may submit After-Hours
Authorization Forms to Campus Safety to allow individuals access to areas beyond the normal building hours. Special areas on campus, such as designated computer labs, may remain open 24 hours-a-day.
Residence hall exterior doors are generally locked 24 hours, except for those halls with an after-hours attendant, or during dining hours or special events. When the residence halls are locked, entrance is gained by use of a valid Nazareth ID card, or by contacting Campus Safety. Courtesy phones are located at the main entrances to all residence halls.
Residence hall exterior doors are also equipped with electronic sensors that alert Campus Safety in the event that a door is propped open. Campus Safety, Residential Life and Facilities staff are encouraged to report all door or security hardware problems for immediate repair.
Campus lighting is another important part of the Nazareth commitment to safety and security. Lighting problems or inefficiencies are immediately reported to Facilities for corrective action and a comprehensive survey of all exterior lighting is annually conducted by members of Facilities and Campus Safety. Landscaping on campus is maintained by trimming shrubbery and trees to enhance safety and security.
