Programming to Build Community
Residential Life is committed to a comprehensive program – one
that blends the co-curricular with the academic to create a total
educational environment. As such, we welcome suggestions and
ideas for activities and programs. Our goal is to enhance the quality
of life for the students in our community. Staff and students work
cooperatively to identify student needs and respond to the needs
through a variety of activities and programs.

We see programming as the backbone of community building. Activities
in the residence halls are as varied as the community we serve.
Among the diverse campus wide programs last year were a Women's
History Poster Contest with a $100 prize to the winner; Naz Café,
a semi-annual coffee house with a free specially designed mug for
each attendee;and the Medaille Haunted House with proceeds benefiting two local charities.
The Graduate Resident Assistants sponsored a special set of programs programs aimed at complementing the life lessons seniors need before going into the world after Nazareth College. This program series, called "Life After Naz," has been one of the highest rated and longest running in our department. Examples of programs sponsored were: Planning Your Financial Future; Car Buying vs. Leasing; Apartment Hunting; How to Plan A Dinner Party; and Debt Consolidation. Students who attended at least two of the programs were invited to a final Wine Tasting. Door prizes which would assist in the transition were gi
ven at each session, with students earning eligibility for a final drawing for a large prize.
Residents spend around 80 percent of their time in college outside of the classroom. The goal of all programming and community building is to meet the needs of our residents. What once was a single-minded approach to teaching and learning in residence halls has been replaced by multi-faceted methodologies. Our emphasis on co-curricular education and the benefits of a holistic education are an important focus for today’s college students. We are excited to be your “home away from home”.
