In accordance with the mission of the Department of Nursing and the undergraduate program goals, the baccalaureate curriculum for both the pre-licensure students and registered nurse students provide educational opportunities which will enable the graduate to:

  1. Demonstrate critical thinking, communication skills, cultural competence, and use of technology in professional nursing.
  2. Demonstrate the criteria necessary to fulfill the ANA (1998) Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Performance.
  3. Provide culturally congruent nursing care to individuals, families, groups, communities, and institutions.
  4. Apply knowledge from the arts, sciences, and humanities in the care of the sick, in health promotion, and population-based health care in and across all environments.
  5. Design, manage and coordinate the delivery of culturally congruent care to diverse populations in a variety of health care systems and according to health care policy.
  6. Collaborate with health care colleagues to promote holistic health for individuals, families, groups, communities, and institutions in diverse settings.
  7. Assess own learning needs and evaluate ongoing professional development.
