Biography:
Michael Griffin
has played in the Rochester Philharmonic since 1994. He holds
degrees from Indiana University-Bloomington and has studied bass
with Murray Grodner, Stuart Sankey, Barry Green, and Lucas Drew.
When not playing Assistant Principal in the orchestra, Michael
can be found making, repairing, or restoring instruments in his
shop, Luthier's Care. His violins are enjoyed by professional
players, and he most recently completed an orchestral bass which
he himself plays in the RPO. In the past, Michael has played in
the Syracuse Symphony, Albany Symphony, and the Northeastern Pennsylvania
Philharmonic, Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra,
and St. Cecilia Chamber Orhcestra, and has taught bass students
at Ithaca College.
