A native of the Rochester area, Jillian Pritchard is an active performer of orchestral, chamber and solo repertoire. She has performed regularly with the Rochester Philharmonic since 2000. She has also performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Chautauqua Symphony, the New World Symphony, the Erie Philharmonic, and held an assistant position with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She is a frequent performer with the Rochester Oratorio Society and the Empire State Lyric Theatre. She has performed on the Live from Hochstein radio broadcast as an orchestra member, chamber musician and soloist. In 2002, she made her solo debut with the Rochester Philharmonic, performing Anders Koppel’s Concerto for Marimba.
A dedicated teacher, Pritchard holds teaching positions at Roberts Wesleyan College and Finger Lakes Community College, and maintains an active private teaching studio. In 2005, she co-presented a clinic with colleague Kristen Shiner McGuire at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Columbus, OH.
In addition to performing, Pritchard has kept her eye on the mounting diversity and complexity of a career as a musician. She held a Development position with the Rochester Philharmonic from 2003-2010 and worked as a casual announcer for WXXI, Rochester’s public radio station.
Pritchard holds degrees from Northwestern University and the Eastman School of Music, where she was also awarded the prestigious Performers Certificate and named a percussion scholar by the Avedis Zildjian Company. Her teachers have included Michael Burritt, James Ross, Joel Spencer and John Beck.
