Vocal Studies at Nazareth

The Nazareth College Department of Music offers high quality instruction to voice students in all music degree programs. Students study the fundamentals of vocal technique, repertoire, and performance practices privately with the Nazareth voice faculty members. Performance opportunities include weekly studio class, studio recitals, honors recitals, guest master classes, opera workshop, symphonic/choral productions, vocal jazz ensemble, and music theatre. In addition to private study, the Department offers courses in vocal pedagogy, diction, song literature and performance practices. Every year, the Opera Workshop produces a full production utilizing students in all its musical and technical aspects. Other unique performance and educational opportunities are offered through the Annual Vocal Fest and the Nazareth College Vocal Pedagogy Series.

Nazareth voice faculty members are active performers in opera, operetta, oratorio, solo recitals, musical theater, and are members of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). In June 2005, the Nazareth College Voice Area hosted the NATS Intern Program.

Recent guests include internationally known artists such as Steven Daigle, Dan McCabe, Kathyrn Cowdrick, Robert Swensen, Constance Haas, Maria Russo, Robert McIver, William McIver (late), Carol Webber, Benton Hess, Helen Boatwright and Myrna Paris.

The Nazareth College Voice Area offers educational and performance opportunities to area high school students through the Summer School of the Arts Musical Theater Program and the Barbara Staropoli Singing Competition.
