Bachelor of Science Music/Business
Students will gain the knowledge and skills to pursue entrepreneurial initiatives and/or make meaningful contributions to individuals and organizations pursuing opportunities in the music business industry.
The program features 2 internship experiences as a part of the degree requirements.

- Acquire a thorough understanding of the functional areas of business
- Develop the skills needed by music business professionals: oral and written communication, social, technological, analytical and critical thinking
- Acquire knowledge of the music business environment and the economic, demographic, social, political and psychological forces that shape the music business
- Develop a global perspective and the cultural competency and sensitivity needed to successfully interact with individuals with different backgrounds and perspectives
- Develop the ability to understand and evaluate the ethical and moral issues related to music business and the general business environment
- Develop an understanding of western musical history and basic music performance skills on a primary instrument and basic musicianship skills in piano and aural skills
Employment Opportunities
The Music/Business Program will help students gain access to a variety of occupations in the music industry. Examples of some potential occupations are: publicist and artist manager, booking agent, concert promoter, entrepreneur, retail sales, music publishing, tour coordinator, tour publicist, sound engineering, and recording technicians.
The program will also prepare students for graduate study in the field or for an advanced degree in business or copyright law.
The required internship will play an important role in helping students to gain access to employment opportunities in the music industry and provide contact with potential future employers.
