Mathematics Majors

All Nazareth students majoring in mathematics receive a broad background that will prepare them for work in any area of mathematics. We offer three programs for our majors: a stand-alone Mathematics major and two programs that include teaching certification, Mathematics with Quad Certification and Mathematics with Adolescence Education.

See the sections below for a more complete description of each program. All mathematics majors take Calculus I, Calculus II, Introduction to Mathematical Structures, Linear Algebra, and Statistics. Each major at Nazareth includes a senior experience. The Senior Experience for Mathematics majors consists of Mth 399 (Seminar in Problem Solving) and a comprehensive examination.

  • ACCESS Adolescence Certification for Career Change Emphasizing Secondary Schools (Formerly Post Baccalaureate Certification Program) Mathematics with Secondary Education (7-12)

Our ACCESS Certification Program is designed for those students who already have an undergraduate degree and who wish to be certified to teach secondary mathematics. The program leads to Mathematics with Adolescence Education certification. Students must complete the same mathematics courses as the Nazareth Mathematics with Adolescence Education program. Two of these mathematics courses must be taken at Nazareth. See the ACCESS Certification Program link for more information about this program.
