COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

SOCIOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY DEPARTMENT invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Sociology. 

Ph.D. in Sociology required.  Several years of experience preferred as well as  demonstrated ability to assume leadership role in joint sociology/anthropology department.  Teaching responsibilities include gender courses and a range of other undergraduate sociology courses which might include health/medical sociology, bodies and emotions, senior capstone course, and other specialty areas.  May also have an opportunity to teach in the Freshman Seminar Program or the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies.  The department believes that a diverse academic community enhances the educational process.  Candidates from diverse backgrounds, particularly members of underrepresented groups, are strongly urged to apply.

Faculty Position 3/4 time appointment - Chemistry Department.

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY  at Nazareth College invites applications for a non-tenure track position for the 2008-2009 academic year (pending final budgetary approval).  The position is a nine-month, ¾ time position open to any sub-specialty in Chemistry.  Teaching responsibilities will include General Chemistry as well as advanced courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.  Opportunities also exist within the department for the candidate to mentor undergraduate students in independent research.  In addition to routine teaching responsibilities, we expect that the candidate will become a “citizen” of the department.  We are especially interested in candidates that have a commitment to undergraduate education as well as to service to the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

MS degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry or closely-related field with a BS degree in Chemistry; one year college-level teaching experience inclusive of graduate teaching assistantships; significant experience in the use of computerized laboratory instrumentation and

superior oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry or closely-related field with a BS degree in Chemistry; two years of college-level chemistry teaching experience; experience in multiple pedagogical strategies in the context of college-level teaching as well as in modern teaching technologies (e.g. SmartBoard); evidence of excellence in teaching

Candidates invited to the campus for an interview will be required to deliver a 50 minute lesson on a topic specified by our search committee.  The topic will be revealed to the candidate at the time of invitation for an interview.

Faculty Position 3/4 time appointment - Music Department.

DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC seeks Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor of Music Theory (.75 Appointment)

One-Year Appointment beginning Fall 2008 to Spring 2009. Responsibilities include teaching three sections (9 credit hours per semester) of first-year written music theory. Collaborate with departmental team regarding curriculum development and evaluation in the academic area (music theory, aural skills, and music history).  Qualified individual must have a minimum of Masters Degree in Music Theory. Demonstrated excellence in teaching written music theory at the undergraduate level to music majors and interest in teaching in a liberal arts environment. Salary: commensurate with experience and rank.

Faculty Position 1/2 time appointment - Music Department.

DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC seeks 1/2-time music therapy faculty position with responsibilities to teach undergraduate music therapy principles and improvisation courses and provide clinic supervision for undergraduate and graduate music therapy students. 

Master's degree in music therapy or a related field and MT-BE required. LCAT preferred.  college tteaching experience and five years of fulltime clinical experience or the equivalent preferred. Flexible schedule is desirable.
