Programs: Pre-Law
Pre-Law | Pre-Law: Courses | Pre-Law: Internships
The Pre-Law Minor is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in the law, either as lawyers or legal assistants. It is open to students from all majors.
The American Bar Association recommends that interested persons should major in a discipline in which they can excel and find satisfaction. It also recommends that, regardless of the major chosen, a student should select courses that emphasize the skills of verbal and written comprehension and expression, a critical understanding of human institutions and the values with which the law deals, and the creative power of thinking.
To enhance the mastery of these skills, the Department of History and Political Science sponsors the Pre-Law Minor Program which includes courses in logic, rhetoric, political science, history and law. Interested students should contact the Pre-Law advisor to develop an appropriate course of study for their four years of college.
