Prerequisite

A minimum of 12 hours in European or Global civilization divided between history and literature, or any other area having relevance to the student’s particular interest.

Required

36 hours in American Studies courses, at least 30 hours at the 300-400 level.

Major Core- 15 Hours

6 hours in American history; 6 hours in American literature; 3 hours in American philosophy or other approved course.

Related Area of Concentration

12 hours from one of the following: Fine Arts; Natural and Social Sciences; Humanities (History, Literature, Philosophy, Religious Studies).

Electives

6 hours in one or both of the two areas not chosen as the area of concentration.
