Service may be quicker in the mornings if you are able to come in then.
What is the flu?
Influenza is a viral infection that is most common from October to February. Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headache, muscle aches and extreme fatigue. Most people who get sick with the flu recover fully within 1-2 weeks. Some people develop serious complications such as pneumonia.
Flu shots do not cause the flu!
Those with underlying chronic medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, lupus or heart ailments and those with compromised immune systems (organ recipients, HIV, chemotherapy patients) are strongly encouraged to get a flu shot annually.
2.* Free HIV oral testing is available courtesy of AIDS Rochester at Health Services once a semester by appointment. We will advertise the date for Spring semester 2009.
New York State Required Immunizations:
NY State Public Health Law 2165 requires all students taking 6 credit hours or more to show protection against measles, mumps and rubella through documentation of 2 doses of measles vaccine (the first on or after the first birthday) and one dose each of mumps and rubella. Laboratory proof of immunity from these diseases is also acceptable. Persons born prior to 1/1/57 are exempt from this requirement.
Health services staff is available to give MMR(measles, mumps, rubella)vaccines for a cost of $10 cash or check to any student who is not compliant.
If you have not presented this documentation to Health Services by 5 days after the start of the semester, you will be removed from class.
NY State Public Health Law 2167 also requires your response to information regarding meningitis and its vaccine. Your responses and signature are needed on the Nazareth Health Services form.
Please call Health Services (585) 389-2500 with any questions. You may fax your documentation to us 24 hours a day @(585) 389-2503. A completed health form should accompany all documentation and is available on this web site.

There is no charge to students for this service, which is for Nazareth College students only.
