Fund for Undergraduate Student Engagement (FUSE) is available for faculty, staff, and student leaders who develop and sponsor programs promoting student interaction with members of the Nazareth College community. The fund is intended for programs involving first and second year students. These programs may take place either on or off campus. Applications can be picked up and submitted to The First Year Center, located on the ground floor of Kearney Hall across from the stairs to the dining hall, or the FUSE Guidelines and the FUSE Request Form can be downloaded here.
Training and Development is offered to staff, faculty and student leaders who assist in helping students during college transition. Services include training student leaders
about student needs during college transition and sponsoring programs for faculty and staff on working with the first year population. We are also available to work collaboratively with a department or design a program to assist with working with first year students.
Concerns about First Year Students are addressed to our office on a daily basis. The Director acts as an advisor and consultant to faculty and staff about concerns regarding students and intervention plans can be developed with input from appropriate personnel. The Director also works closely with areas such as Academic Advisement and Residential Life to track students and be proactive in assisting students having transitional difficulties. This approach has resulted in a strong, campus-wide network of resources available for students in need of guidance and support.
Program Ideas are generated here. Because we are continually educated through research, surveys, and interviews regarding the growing needs of our first year students, we can offer informed advice and assistance to faculty, staff and student leaders in the development of new programs.
