Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG):
Full time students who took a challenging program in high school, graduated in 2005 or later, are in their first two years of college, and are recipients of a Federal Pell Grant, may be eligible for the new ACG. First year students receive $750 for the academic year ($375 per semester). Second year students who maintained at least a 3.0 GPA at the end of their first year of college receive $1,300 for the academic year ($650 per semester). There is no award from this program for upperclassmen.

The National Science & Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant

(National SMART Grant):

The SMART Grant is available during the third and fourth years of undergraduate study to full-time students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and who are majoring in: Mathematics,

Chemistry,Bio-Chemistry,Biology, Environmental Science and Information Technology.  Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0(B) and must maintain registration in course work required for the major. Eligibility is measured each semester.

Federal Pell Grants:
Up to a maximum of $5,350. Filing a FAFSA annually is required and the amount of the award is based upon the federal needs analysis. This is grant assistance for high need students.

FSEOG:
Federal grants ranging from $100 - $1,000 awarded to students who are Pell Grant recipients. Amounts vary based on the limited availability of funds. FAFSA must be filed annually.

Federal Perkins Loan:
Loans made directly to students and credited to their accounts. Loans carry a fixed interest rate of five percent and the amount of the loan varies, up to $1,500 per year. FAFSA must be filed annually. Awards dependent upon availability of federal funds.

Federal Work Study:
Work hours vary according to student's demonstrated need. Most students can work up to 10 hours per week and the 2009-2010 hourly pay rate is $7.94. FAFSA must be filed annually.

New York State TAP:
Awards vary, based on New York State net taxable income. Students whose families have NYS net taxable incomes of under $80,000 may be eligible for TAP awards. Students must be New York State residents for one year before beginning college and attend full time. These awards are renewable for eight semesters only and students must have a 2.0 GPA by the time they have used four semesters of TAP. Students must file the FAFSA and make sure that TAP has current and complete information as well as the TAP code for Nazareth, which is 0525.
