- Merit Scholarships are based on an exceptionally strong academic record and substantial extracurricular involvement and community service.
- The size and scope of the applicant pool is also taken into account. Need is not a factor in consideration for these awards.
- Recipients of these awards are selected, at the time of admission, by the Admissions Committee. No separate application is necessary except for Heritage Scholarships - see below.
- Award levels listed below apply to first time recipients, Fall 2009.
- All scholarships require full-time attendance and are awarded per semester.
- Scholarship eligibility is reviewed annually based on cumulative GPA. If the minimum requirement is not met, one semester of probation is granted. After the probationary period, if the cumulative GPA remains below the requirement, the scholarship will be reduced by 20% of the value. If, after subsequent semesters, the GPA requirement is met, full reinstatement of the award may be requested.
Presidential Scholarships:
$14,500 + per year awarded to full-time, matriculated freshmen, at the time of admission. Renewable for eight consecutive full time semesters, provided a 3.25 cumulative GPA is maintained. Presidential Scholars are subject to reduction when the Scholarship, New York State awards plus outside scholarships total more than tuition.
Dean's Scholarships:
$11,500 - $14,000 per year awarded to full-time, matriculated freshmen, at the time of admission. Renewable for eight consecutive full time semesters, provided a 3.0 cumulative GPA is maintained.
Founders Scholarships:
$9,500 - $11,000 per year awarded to full-time, matriculated freshmen, at the time of admission. Award is renewable for eight consecutive full time, undergraduate semesters, provided student remains in good academic standing and a 3.0 cumulative GPA is maintained.
Trustee Scholarships:
$7,500 - $9,000 per year awarded to full-time, matriculated freshmen, at the time of admission. Renewable for eight consecutive full time semesters, provided a 2.5 cumulative GPA is maintained.
Class of 1928 Scholarships:
$1,000 to $7,500 per year awarded to full-time, matriculated freshmen, at the time of admission. Renewable for eight full time consecutive semesters, provided a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained.
Regional Scholarships:
$1,000 - $3,500 per year awarded to full-time, matriculated freshmen, at the time of admission. In order to be considered, a student must be a graduate of a high school outside of New York State. Award is renewable for eight consecutive full time, undergraduate semesters, provided a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained.
Heritage Award:
$3,000 per year awarded by competitive review to first time incoming freshmen only, who are children or grandchildren of alumni who received their Bachelor's or Master's degree from Nazareth College. Heritage Scholarship candidates must indicate their interest for the award on the application for admission. Award is renewable for eight consecutive full time, undergraduate semesters, provided a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained.
Rochester City School District Scholarship:
Ten awards of $10,000 annually to regularly admitted students from public high schools in the Rochester City School District. Competitive based on strength of academic program and the number of eligible candidates. A 2.0 cumulative GPA must be maintained.
The above scholarships are available only to first time entering freshmen. Transfer students are not eligible for these awards.
Campus Diversity Scholarships:
$1,000 - $3,500 per year awarded to recognize academic achievement. Granted to students who represent family backgrounds, life experiences or academic interests atypical of full-time undergraduate students at Nazareth College. Renewable for eight consecutive full time, undergraduate semesters, provided a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained.
Music Scholarships:
Amount varies, renewable for eight consecutive, full time undergraduate semesters provided a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained. Student must continue in the major for which the scholarship was awarded. An audition is required for consideration and the deadline is March 1st. Award is determined by Music Department faculty.
Theatre Arts Scholarships:
Amount varies, renewable for eight consecutive, full time undergraduate semesters provided a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained. Student must continue in the major for which the scholarship was awarded. An audition (acting concentration) or an interview (technical theatre) is required for consideration and the deadline for these is March 1st. Award is determined by the Theatre Arts Department faculty.
Music Theatre Scholarships:
Amount varies, renewable for eight consecutive, full time undergraduate semesters provided that a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained. Student must continue in the major for which the scholarship was awarded. An audition is required for consideration and the deadline is March 1st. Award is determined by the Music/Theatre Department faculty.
Art Scholarships:
Amount varies, renewable for eight consecutive, full time undergraduate semesters provided that a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained. Student must continue in the major for which the scholarship was awarded. A portfolio review is required and there is a March 1st deadline. Award is determined by the Art Department faculty.
Transfer Student Scholarships:
Amount varies, renewable, depending on the number of credits transferred to Nazareth. Transfer students with outstanding academic records may be considered for honors awards specific to transfers. Most gift assistance for transfer students is awarded on a need basis in response to filing a timely annual FAFSA. A 3.0 cumulative GPA must be maintained.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship:
$1,000 per semester awarded to students transferring directly from a 2 year college program who are members of Phi Theta Kappa at the time they apply for admission to Nazareth College. A 3.0 cumulative GPA must be maintained.
Nazareth Scholarships:
Awards vary according to demonstrated need and they are subject to change from year to year. They are renewable for 8 semesters, provided a 3.0 cumulative GPA is maintained. Scholarships are only available to full time students.

Purple and Gold Awards:
Grants are awarded to help students with demonstrated need after all other awards are made. They are renewable for 8 semesters and can vary from year to year. Grants are only available to full time students.
Nazareth Family Grants:
$1,000 per year to any full-time student who has an immediate family member in the same household also attending Nazareth College on a full-time basis, provided a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained
The Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program provides grants up to $4000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. Please see TEACH Grant fact sheet for more detailed information. To apply for a TEACH Grant, please submit the TEACH Grant Application to the Nazareth College Financial Aid Office.
Robert Noyce Scholar Program:
