Business & Marketing Education
Program Description:
The overall purpose of the Business and Marketing Education Program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed as active and productive business teachers. The Business and Marketing Education program is quite broad and diverse. Within the liberal arts tradition, the program is designed to lessen the barrier between theory and practice, easing the transition from the role of student to teacher. No course is taken in isolation; each is part of a continuum combining a solid theoretical knowledge base with developmentally sequenced field experiences. The future business and marketing education teacher learns to teach by observing, by analyzing, by teaching and by interacting with other professionals. The emphasis in this program is to develop a reflective practitioner.
Students who successfully complete this program will receive New York State Initial Teacher Certification in the following area:

Business and Marketing Education (K – Grade 12)

Admission Requirements:
Qualified sophomores and juniors choosing to prepare for a teaching career may be admitted to the School of Education when they are recommended by the department chairperson of their academic major and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.7 and satisfy the interview requirements of the major department and of the School of Education.
