LiveText Frequently Asked Questions

Am I required to use LiveText™?

Yes, as a student in an education program you will be required to use LiveText in selected classes to create lesson plans and other projects as well as for the development and presentation of your final portfolio.

How do I sign up for LiveText™?

Orientation sessions are offered at the beginning of each semester at various times. You must register for a session through NazNet or Graduate Student Services. Undergraduate students register for EDU 090 and graduate students register for EDU 095 "Orientation to Personal Electronic Portfolio and Electronic Resource System." The orientation will appear on your transcript as a zero credit course.

I am new to LiveText™. Where can I get help?

There is a LiveText office located in the Golisano Academic Center, Room 281. Graduate Associates hold regular office hours to provide assistance to students and faculty. You can stop by during those hours or you may contact them via email livetext@naz.edu or by phone 389-2624 to schedule an appointment.

Is there a manual or other resource for LiveText™?

Yes, LiveText™ offers an online manual, which can be accessed by clicking on the "help" button in the top right corner of your LiveText screen. The LiveText office also has a variety of student and faculty help sheets available upon request (and many are available online as pdf files)..

Can I use LiveText™ after I leave Nazareth?

Yes, your LiveText subscription is good for your time at Nazareth and one year after. You also have the option to renew your subscription for a fraction of the original fee at the end of the additional year.

Do I need special software to use LiveText™?

No, all you need is a reliable internet connection and completed registration of your account. LiveText™ is a web-based system, which can be accessed by any computer with Internet access.

Which Internet Browser should I use?

For PCs, the LiveText support manual recommends using Firefox 1.0+, Netscape 7.2+ or Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0+
For Macs, they recommend Firefox 1.0+, Netscape 7.2+ or Safari 1.2.2+
(You can download Firefox from firefox.com)

I have an older computer, what are the operating system requirements for LiveText?

PCs: Windows 98 SR2, 2000, NT, Me and XP
Macs: Mac OS 10.3 or OS 10.2

I tried to sign in but I forgot my password and/or User ID. What should I do?

You can contact LiveText directly either by phone 1-866-548-3839 or click "Login Help?" located directly under where you would normally log in.

When I try to create a new lesson plan or project, I don't have the option of using a Nazareth template. What happened?

If you are looking for the Nazareth templates and don't see them, you probably didn't affiliate your registration in LiveText with Nazareth College. Contact LiveText by phone or by email support@livetext.com and have them associate your account with our college templates.

I was working at home and my dial-up connection quit. I lost the work I had finished. How can I avoid this in the future?

While there are no guarantees, there are some ways to minimize the damage and perhaps make it less likely to occur. If you are composing a reflection or reaction paper, we recommend you compose it in MS Word (or the word processor of your choice). To prevent formatting problems, copy/paste the document into Notepad then copy/paste from Notepad into LiveText. If you are using a template (e.g., lesson plan), be sure to click "Save", then Finish under each section as you complete it. By doing so, you are saving the section as you go. You can also contact the LiveText helpline, and see if they may be able to retrieve your work.
