Program
Description:
This program of study focuses on bilingual education.
Students who successfully complete this program will extend their New York
State Teacher Certification to allow students to teach in bilingual settings
of their original certification. For example, if a teacher is certified at the
childhood level, the bilingual extension will extend their certification to include
bilingual childhood level teaching.
Admission
Requirements: - Enrollment in teacher certification
program (Early Childhood Education; Childhood Education; Middle Childhood Education;
Adolescence Education; a special subject; Literacy Education; Career and Technical
Education; Students with Disabilities in early Childhood, or Childhood, or Middle
Childhood, or Adolescence; Students who are blind or visually impaired; Students
who are deaf or hard of hearing; and Students with speech and language disabilities)
or TESOL program at Nazareth college.
OR -
Completion of a baccalaureate degree at an accredited institution with a cumulative
index of 3.0 and a B average in the major field.
- Complete
annotation
/extension form and pay fee.
- Copy of teacher certification.
Required Course Credits:
6 credit hours if enrolled in Nazareth
TESOL program, or hold TESOL certification.
12 credit hours if enrolled
in certification programs or hold certification other than TESOL (Early Childhood
Education; Childhood Education; Middle Childhood Education; Adolescence Education;
a special subject; Literacy education; Career and Technical education; Students
with disabilities in Early Childhood, or Childhood, or Middle Childhood, or Adolescence;
Students who are blind or visually impaired; Students who are deaf or hard of
hearing; and Students with speech and language disabilities).
