Students in a classroom.

Graduate Inclusive Childhood Education

Welcome! We have a rigorous course of study for students who do and do not yet hold Initial Certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) and in Teaching Students with Disabilities at the childhood level. We provide multiple opportunities for you to read, discuss, analyze and act in relation to Inclusive Education.

Kerry DunnGraduates of our programs understand that all classrooms are filled with groups of students with diverse strengths and backgrounds and that teachers must differentiate instruction in order to meet the needs of each group of learners. You will do work in our programs that is grounded in theories about child development, inclusive education, differentiated instruction, backward design and education for social change. Your journey with us will be stimulating and challenging and will offer you the potential to be an agent for change with individuals and groups in classrooms and schools.

Advisement

Academic advisement begins with New Student Orientation, typically scheduled about a month prior to students' first semester in the program. At orientation students receive general information about the program, design their academic plan for program completion, and register for courses. It is important for students to stay in close communication with their academic advisor throughout their time at Nazareth, to ensure that they have the strongest academic experience possible.

"My first semester in the graduate inclusive childhood program was personally transformative. I became enculturated into a different mindset, a way of viewing all students by their strengths, and to build on those strengths to design instruction that would create the optimal learning environment for each student."
