Department of Social and Psychological Foundations of Education
Welcome to the Department of Social and Psychological Foundations of Education website.
Our faculty members come from diverse academic and national backgrounds and are committed to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction and scholarship. Department faculty members are active in all aspects of college and academic life. We are also engaged in individual and collaborative scholarship, active in a number of professional associations, and provide a variety of professional development activities.
The Department conducts the sequence of core courses taken by all undergraduate and graduate teacher education students. These courses are grounded in the Foundations of Education and are guided by an orientation to critical analysis, social justice, and public action.
Among other specialties, we are committed to urban and community education and have formed partnerships with a number of Rochester City School District schools and local organizations to provide programs involving students from Nazareth College and public schools.
Currently, we are in the process of constructing several new and exciting programs of study for practitioners and educational leaders. Check this site for announcements on these programs and other notable activities and events.
