
Teacher Opportunity Corps Program
The Teacher Opportunity Corp (TOC) Program prepares individuals who are hystorically underrepresented and underserved in the teaching profession with the support and skills to address the unique learning needs of at-risk students in urban schools. TOC supports full- and part-time graduate students who have demonstrated a commitment to helping all students achieve high standards of learning and development with:
- supplemental field placements in the classrooms of effective urban teachers
- specialized curricula that addresses the needs of students in under-performing schools
- mentoring support during the first five years of teaching
- counseling, research experiences, and other support services
- financial assisstance

TOC collaborates with the Rochester City School District, The Rochester Teaching Center, RCSD Careers-in-Teaching Program, community-based human service organizations and other high-needs schools to:
- enhance the preparation of urban teachers
- target teacher shortages in special education, math, and science
- create positive learning communities
- increase parent/family engagement in education
