Welcome to the Nazareth College Creative Arts Therapy website!

The Arts Therapy Program is accredited and approved by the American Art Therapy Association. Inc. and as such meets the Education Standards of the profession.

The Creative Arts Therapy Department has been approved as licensed-designated by the New York State Education Department. Our Master of Science Creative Arts Therapy Program is embedded in a psychotherapeutic orientation, preparing those educated in art or music to be effective and ethical professionals specializing in the fields of Art Therapy or Music Therapy. Utilizing highly collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches, the Nazareth College program is committed to developing people who are capable of applying intellectual strength, ethics, and aesthetic values in the treatment of individuals, groups, and families.

Mission: The mission of the Creative Arts Therapy Department is to develop in our students the integration of knowledge and skills that are grounded in the core values, competencies, and ethics of Nazareth College, the School of Health and Human Services, the American Art Therapy Association, the American Music Therapy Association, and New York State. The Creative Arts Therapy program fosters personal and professional development through didactic education, diverse clinical experience, rigorous supervision, quality research, and a commitment to self-awareness, reflective practice, and Interprofessional collaboration. Creative Arts Therapy faculty demonstrate excellence in teaching, practice, research, publishing, and service.
Vision: The Creative Arts Therapy Department strives to be a nationally and internationally recognized program in which students develop into creative arts therapists who make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
