Why continue my education at Nazareth?

Nazareth is an independent, co-educational college with both undergraduate and graduate studies in the liberal arts and sciences and professional programs in health and human services, education and management. Describe the approach at Nazareth.

The College of Arts and Sciences and each of the professional schools within Nazareth have a distinctive approach to the education of adult students. The hallmark of all of our continuing professional programs is the interaction that our small classes and dedicated faculty facilitates. Significant emphasis is placed on teamwork, communication skills and the leadership tools one needs in their professional lives. All Nazareth faculty bring real-world experience and strong reputations to their field of study to provide students with connections to new concepts and new people.

What sort of students enter these programs?

Aside from the attributes of intelligence, industry and leadership, our students exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning. They are looking to make a greater contribution to their organizations and to their community.

What criteria is used to evaluate applicants?

There is no application process for Life Long Learning seminars or for Continuing Education Credentialing courses. Applicants to our Advanced Certificate programs are evaluated based upon prior academic record, fit of the program to the applicant's personal goals and the strengths of each applicant resume ensuring their success. An interview with the Program Director may be required to evaluate leadership potential and fit for the teamwork structure of our programs.

When are application deadlines?

Applications for the Advanced Certificate programs need to be submitted at least four weeks prior to the start of the term when a candidate plans to enroll.

If I do not have an undergraduate degree, what is there for me at Nazareth?

Through the Office of Continuing Professional Programs, you can extend your training and education with courses that assist in preparation for tests that grant successful participants with credentials. We are continually developing new courses and programs for lifelong learning and personal enrichment based upon the needs expressed by our community and business partners.

What is required in the application process for Advanced Certificates?

Application to one of our Advanced Certificate programs is streamlined.  An application, one essay, official transcripts and a resume, submitted with a $40 non-refundable fee are required.

Can I transfer course credit?

Credit-bearing courses offered as part of our Advanced Certificate programs may be transferred to other institutions based upon their policies for transfer credits. Nazareth College does not accept transfer credits into any of its Advanced Certificate programs.

Can my certificate courses be used toward an MS at a future time?

Yes. Each of the Advanced Certificate academic credit-bearing courses are developed with the intent that they may be transferred within the College to one of our Master's degree programs. For specifics, please refer to each individual Advanced Certificate program offering.

What will it cost me to complete an Advanced Certificate program at Nazareth?

The cost to complete one of our 15-graduate-credit-hour Advanced Certificate programs is $7884 (based upon 2008/2009 graduate tuition rates and a student completing the program within one academic calendar year). This reflects a discounted rate for AC students. Costs will vary across academic years if tuition rates increase. Each of the Advanced Certificate programs require a student complete the course requirements within three years.

Can I defer my bill until after I receive grades?

For credit-bearing courses, bills will be mailed to your address approximately one month before classes begin each semester. Part-time students are encouraged to take advantage of the Employer Tuition Reimbursement Plan which allows payment deferment until after you have been received grades and been reimbursed by your employer (see Student Accounts website).

For non-credit bearing courses, payment is expected with registration. Refer to specific course offerings for deadline registration dates.
