Suzuki
instruction can begin as early as three years of age. The Suzuki
approach is based upon the belief that musical ability can be learned
in the same way a child learns to speak; that is, initial learning
is by imitation, with note reading introduced gradually. One parent,
preferably the same each week, must attend all lessons with the
child. Private weekly lessons are regularly supplemented by group
sessions and performances. Suzuki instruction is offered in piano
and violin.
