Small ensemble activity enriches the skills developed in private lessons. Collaborative interaction provides opportunities to improve one’s sense of rhythm and timing, pitch, balance and nuance; it enhances the musical experience for students of all ages. Through an affiliation with the innovative local chamber music organization, Fortissimo! Inc., CMP chamber music students can participate in a summer chamber music camp and may have the opportunity to perform off-campus along-side professional musicians.

Flute Choir

The Flute Choir is structured to accommodate students playing at NYSSMA levels 4-6. Younger or less experienced students may join pending approval, and their music may be simplified to allow them to participate. The Magic Recorder

TThis class is offered for young beginners interested in the flute but still physically too little to hold the instrument properly. The skills of note reading, rhythm, memorization and composition are encouraged and developed, ensuring a solid foundation for their eventual flute studies, as well as all other woodwind instruments. Planting these seeds of knowledge and creativity nurtures the love of music in the young player.

AAffiliated with the collegiate music department, the Nazareth College Symphony Orchestra welcomes musicians from the community to join its ranks for the 2008 – 2009 season.
