Our primary concern is to prepare international students for academic study at Nazareth College or elsewhere. ALI curriculum takes students from beginning-level English to university-level English. We strongly believe that students must develop a wide variety of language skills to be successful and to fully participate in university classes. ALI instructors are dedicated to providing each student with the necessary skills. Through reading, writing, speaking, and listening, we give students opportunities to improve fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.

Outside of class, U.S. culture is introduced through conversational activities, where asking questions and sharing feelings are highly encouraged, as well as through extracurricular cultural programs including trips to Niagara Falls, local museums, and other off-site locations.

The American classroom has a distinct "culture." Study and test habits, note taking, and research skills are demonstrated and discussed. Some international students are challenged in adjusting to what is expected by American teachers and professors: becoming aware of the differences in classroom approaches is crucial to student success.

We invite you to join us. Our primary goal is to help you in reaching your goals.
