About the CIE | Message from the Director | The Team

The Center for International Education is the flagship of international initiatives and activities at Nazareth College of Rochester. In addressing its mission, the CIE supports and develops Nazareth College's commitment to its educational goals and responsibilities in a global context.

The CIE is the campus-wide unit that coordinates the following activities:

  • The CIE serves as an administrative base for all international students, scholars, and their dependents for information and services related to immigration regulations, personal, social, and cross-cultural adjustment.

  • The CIE administers collaborative programs such as overseas study programs, student and faculty exchanges, research endeavors, and cultural activities with sister institutions around the world.

  • The CIE builds bridges to the world community by bringing internationally recognized scholars, scientists, and world leaders to Nazareth College.

  • The CIE facilitates the internationalization of the campus community by assisting in the planning and implementation of an internationally-oriented educational program that is reflective of the demands of a new global reality.

  • The CIE supports conferences and colloquia, cultural events, and scholarly publications with interdisciplinary focus on global themes, enhancing the intellectual atmosphere at Nazareth College.

  • The CIE creates a spectrum of opportunities for faculty and staff to develop and broaden their intellectual and professional horizons with regard to global issues that have crucial impact on the present and future state of our world.

  • The CIE initiates and administers revenue generating programs such as grant opportunities, development projects, and the Intensive American English Program.

  • The CIE promotes a vital outreach program to the local community by disseminating global ideas, knowledge and awareness and by facilitating economic opportunities that benefit the local and global communities.

This mission statement reflects Nazareth College's continued commitment to the people of New York, the wider region and to the world in promoting mutual understanding among all people.
