Undergraduate Research & Projects
In the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, we believe that undergraduate research is an integral component in the scientific education of our students. As early as the first semester, Chemistry and Biochemistry students have the opportunity to become involved in undergraduate research. Professors closely supervise and guide students in the development and implementation of their research projects.
During the undergraduate research experience, students engage in projects that enable them to learn how to answer interesting scientific questions, to solve complex problems, and to develop innovative technologies. Our students learn the art of scientific investigation, gain confidence in working in the laboratory nand acquire independence, self-reliance and self-discipline. Alumni from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry confirm that their research experiences were a vital part of their education. We are indeed proud of the consistent placements of our graduating students. Our students secure positions in top-rated graduate and professional programs and effectively compete for jobs in the marketplace. We attribute much of this success to the enthusiastic participation of our students in research while they are here at Nazareth.
If you are interested in engaging your scientific know-how and want to explore more deeply into science, then get involved in undergraduate research at Nazareth. There are numerous opportunities available to undergraduate science students, from semester-long courses to intensive summer research experiences here on campus and throughout the world.
