'08 Alum - A Research Intern at Disney World

Environmental Science minor and Studio Art major (U '08), Christa Evans is currently working as a research intern at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Christa works in "The Land" at EPCOT conducting research on a variety of plants and plant-growing techniques.  A major focus of her work has been the study of cut melons from China.  The ends of these melons can be harvested for food and the melon still continues to grow, providing a continuing source of nutrition.

During the semester break in December 2008, Dr. Beverly Brown (Department of Biology) and her husband Dr. Jerry Denno (English Department) visited Christa at EPCOT for a private tour of "The Land."  Dr. Brown and Christa met while Christa was taking Plant Biology and they have continued to remain in touch.

During the visit, Christa created a great dip recipe using cut melons.  Too bad she's so far away or we would definitely have a Dip Off contender!

Beginning in January 2009, Christa will be working as a Education Trainee in the Animal Kingdom at Disney World, for six months.
