Mass. (Oct. 13, 2006) -- Freshman Katelynn Reed
(pictured) served up seven aces and added six
kills Friday as Nazareth defeated Bridgewater
State in its opening match at the Wellesley Invitational
for women's volleyball. Nazareth won in three
games, 30-21, 30-18, 30-27.
Reed's six kills came without a hitting error
in 11 attempts for a .545 hitting percentage in
the match. Sophomore Laura Persico produced a
.333 hitting percentage with a match-high 15 kills
in 36 attempts. She also had 12 digs.
Other highlights included 32 assists for junior
setter Elyse Monje, 16 digs for freshman Carra
Vanderstyne and 13 digs for freshman Kate Zwickl.
Nazareth plays two matches Saturday -- vs. Dubuque
at 12 p.m. and vs. Wellesley at 2 p.m.
