EARNS ROOKIE HONORS
ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2006) -- Elizabeth Tregan, a junior
outside hitter on the Nazareth women’s volleyball
team, was named Empire 8 Conference Player of
the Week for the seven-day period that ended Nov.
4.
Tregan, a native and graduate of Plattsburgh,
NY, finished with 29 kills, seven blocks, 22 digs,
and four service aces as third-seeded Nazareth
upset second-seeded Ithaca and top-seeded RIT
to win the Empire 8 volleyball title last Saturday.
She hit over .300 in both matches. The win over
RIT clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament
for the Golden Flyers. It will be Nazareth’s
seventh appearance in the NCAA tournament and
its first since 2003.
Tregan is second on the team with 366 kills and
first on the team with 70 blocks.
Nazareth will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to
play 11th-ranked Calvin on Thursday in the first
round of the NCAA tournament. Match time is 8:30
p.m.
