Golden Flyers win opener at Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2006) -- Nazareth's women's volleyball team avenged a pair of earlier defeats Friday as the Golden Flyers defeated Potsdam in a pool-play match at the Cardinal Classic at SUNY Platsburgh. Nazareth won in four games by scores of 26-30, 30-16, 30-27, 30-25.

Nazareth improved to 7-13 overall and has two more pool-play matches Saturday -- against St. Lawrence and Norwich. Friday's win avenged losses to Potsdam from Sept. 2 and Sept. 16.

Plattsburgh native Elizabeth Tregan (pictured) led the Golden Flyers with 17 kills and 12 digs. Laura Persico added 16 kills and setter Elyse Monje contributed 39 assists, eight digs and six service aces.
