NAZARETH DROPS 2 OF 3 ON SECOND DAY
Golden Flyers complete weekend at 3-2

ONEONTA, N.Y. (Sept. 2, 2006) -- Nazareth's women's volleyball team completed the second day of competition at the Red Dragon Invitational at SUNY Oneonta Saturday. The Golden Flyers won their first match, then dropped the next two to complete the weekend with a 3-2 record.

In their first match, the Golden Flyers defeated Scranton in four games 30-26, 25-30, 30-16, 30-28. Nazareth then suffered its first loss, falling to Potsdam in four games 30-24, 20-30, 30-27, 30-26. Then in the championship match, Nazareth lost to Empire 8 Conference rival RIT in four games 16-30, 30-21, 30-26, 30-15.

Freshman Kate Zwickl represented Nazareth on the all-tournament team after totaling 61 assists in Saturday's three matches. She had 110 in the five weekend matches for an average of 6.1 per game. She had 28 assists in the Scranton match to go with 14 kills for freshman Katelynn Reed and 21 digs for freshman Natasha Villane. Junior Elizabeth Tregan and sophomore Laura Persico (pictured) each had 12 kills.

In the loss the Potsdam, Tregan posted nine kills and junior Elyse Monje had 25 assists and Villane had 19 digs. Then against RIT, freshman Carra Vanderstyne had nine kills and 14 digs and Zwickl had 23 assists.

Nazareth is off until Sept. 12 when the Golden Flyers visit Geneseo for a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
