SPRINGS, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2006) -- Nazareth, seeded
12th, split a pair of matches Saturday at the
NYSWCAA Tournament, hosted by Skidmore College.
The Golden Flyers lost to fifth-seeded Rochester
for the second time in four days, losing in three
games 30-19, 30-15, 32-30. They rebounded, however,
to defeat Geneseo in a consolation match, 30-18,
30-24, 30-27.
In the UR match, Elyse Monje (pictured) combined
34 assists with seven digs and five kills and
freshman Natasha Villane had three service aces
and 20 digs.
Against Geneseo, Monje had 30 assists, four aces
and five digs and sophomore Laura Persico had
23 kills, four aces and 11 digs. Freshman Kristina
Mueller had six kills and seven digs.
Nazareth (15-20 overall) plays Ithaca Saturday
at RIT in a semifinal match of the Empire 8 Tournment.
