GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Nov. 9, 2006) -- Eleventh-ranked Calvin made short work of Nazareth Thursday in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament for women's volleyball. The host Knights improved to 33-1 overall in 2006 with a three-game sweep of the Golden Flyers, who completed their season at 17-21. Scores were 30-12, 30-24, 30-6.

Calvin moves into Friday's semifinals of the eight-team Great Lakes Regional vs. Hope College. Hiram and Wittenberg play in the other semifinal match.

Nazareth was the most competitive in the second game when the Golden Flyers nearly overcame an 11-point deficit. Calvin led 21-10, before Nazareth went on a 14-4 scoring spree to close within 26-24. Freshman Hillary Adam (pictured) had three of her team-high six kills for Nazareth during the run. Calvin regrouped, though, to score the last four points to win the game and then easily won the third game.

Freshman Katelynn Reed had four kills and one block, junior Elizabeth Tregan added three kills and two aces and freshman setter Kate Zwickl had 13 assists.
