ALFRED, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2006) -- Nazareth won its first Empire 8 women's volleyball match of the season Tuesday as the visiting Golden Flyers dominated Alfred University in three games 30-7, 30-16, 30-22.

Nazareth, which visits SUNY Plattsburgh this weekend for a tournament, stretched its overall record to 6-13. Alfred is 0-2 in conference matches and 3-14 overall.

Sophomore Laura Persico posted nine kills and freshman Kate Zwickl added 12 digs. Other Nazareth highlights included 15 assists and seven service aces for junior Elyse Monje (pictured) and six kills and three aces for freshman Carra Vanderstyne.
