N.Y. (Feb. 10, 2007) -- Host Nazareth defeated
ninth-ranked D'Youville in four games (24-30,
30-27, 30-20, 34-32) to win the Nazareth Tournament.
The Golden Flyers, ranked eighth nationally, have
won 10 consecutive matches. The victory improved
Nazareth to 12-3 overall and dropped D'Youville
to 7-9 overall.
In the match against D'Youville, the Golden Flyers
were led by junior Tom Maving (pictured) who recorded
a match-high 22 kills as well as six digs. Additionally,
sophomore Kelvin Rolle added 12 kills and four
assisted blocks, junior Adam DiCicco recorded
11 kills, and senior Shaun Tyszka had 10 kills
and four assisted blocks. Sophomore Frank Leahy
added 50 assists to the Golden Flyers' attack.
John Colosi recorded 18 kills while Clinton Gilliland
added 14 kills for D'Youville. John Kofmehl added
50 assists for the Spartans.
Nazareth will try to continue its in winning
streak in its next match at Hilbert February 14
at 7 p.m.
Nazareth
defeated Vassar in three games -- 30-24, 30-23,
30-24 to improve their record in the Nazareth
Tournament to 3-0. Nazareth's overall record is
now 11-3 while Vassar falls to 1-2 in the Nazareth
Tournament and drops to 4-6 overall.
Juniors Adam DiCicco (pictured) and Tom Maving
led Nazareth with 24 combined kills while freshman
Kevin Kirchhoff recorded 40 assists. Sophomore
Ryan Johnsen added seven kills and five assisted
blocks.
Sophomore Scott Leserman recorded 12 kills for
Vassar while sophomore John Kessenich had 31 assists
for the Brewers.
The Golden Flyers play again Saturday, February
10 at 4 p.m. against D'Youville also has a 3-0
record in the Nazareth Tournament.
